For the Kids: Space Jam Toys for Your Kiddo

Do you remember all the fun times you had watching Space Jam as a kid? Well, it’s time to put those memories to good use and start sweating to the ‘90s classic! This workout will get you toned, strengthen your core, and improve your flexibility. Best of all, you don’t need any expensive equipment — just a pair of sneakers and a little imagination. It remains one of the most memorable movies from the ’90s, and kids everywhere fell in love with it. As an adult, though, it might not be your first choice when looking for something to watch with your own children. The plot is a little bit silly and there are references to grown-up things like gambling and drinking that you might want to avoid exposing your child to. But as with any good movie, there are plenty of positive messages in Space Jam that you can use as talking points when watching it again with your child.

The Plot of Space Jam

Michael Jordan is a retired basketball player who’s now a store owner in Chicago. He’s asked to travel to the planet Moron to make a commercial for a new sports drink but gets tricked and gets stuck on the planet. He meets a girl named Mona who is a Moronian and falls in love with her. In order to get back to Earth, he needs to collect a few items like the blood of a rare Moronian butterfly and some uranium from a retired nuclear reactor. While he is collecting the items, he is chased by a giant monster called the Gargantulo.  A group of Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, help him get back to Earth, but they get caught by the evil basketball-stealing aliens, the Swampland Monsters. The Looney Tunes characters try to distract them while Jordan gets back into shape. The two teams face off in an intergalactic basketball game and he finally comes back to Earth and makes the commercial.

Where to Find Space Jam Toys

Because it’s an older film, you won’t find the Space Jam toys in the same places you’d look for the latest action figures. That doesn’t mean they’re impossible to find, though. Your best bet is to shop online, where you’ll have plenty of options. You can find old Space Jam toys including the Nerf basketball hoop and a basketball that lights up and makes sound effects. Kids will love playing with these toys just as much as they did 20 years ago. Some of the Space Jam action figures are still available, but they are very rare and hard to find. Kids who are interested in these toys can also enjoy other franchises that are similar and inspired by Space Jam such as Slammers Slammers is an animated TV series on Netflix that was released in 2019. Slammers is about a group of young basketball players who discover that they have superpowers when they start playing basketball together. You can also find new toys, like the Looney Tunes Action Figures and the Space Jam Lego Set.

Looney Tunes Action Figures

Kids and adults alike love getting their hands on these action figures. They come in a set of 10, including Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Taz, Lola Bunny, a green monster, and two other mystery characters. Kids will love collecting these figurines and setting them up in different scenes or playing with them individually. They can be used in creative play or displayed on bookshelves. The quality of these toys is excellent, and they’re safe for kids of all ages. The price is very reasonable for such high-quality toys, and there’s a money-back guarantee if your child isn’t happy with them. The figures can be posed in different positions, and they also come with accessories, like basketballs, basketball nets, and hoops.

Space Jam Lego Set

Kids who love Legos will love this set that includes a futuristic basketball court with a scoreboard and a hologram. The Space Jam Lego set comes with two figures (Michael Jordan and a Swampland Monster) and three basketballs. The set also features a brick patterned floor, a hoop, a slam dunk button, and a background scene with the hoops at the Monstropolis gym. The set comes with instructions and a recommended age of 9–14 years. It is also recommended for fans of all ages who love basketball and the movie Space Jam.

Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)

A young LeBron James was dropped off at a youth league basketball game in 1998 by his mother. Malik provided him with a Game Boy game console, and LeBron is told by Coach C to focus on the game, rather than playing with his Game Boy. After missing a last-second shot and being reprimanded by Coach C after the game, LeBron agrees and throws away the Game Boy.

In the movie, the character of Bugs Bunny comes out of retirement to join a new generation of space hoppers, meeting an up-and-coming basketball player named “James”. As a result, the name “LeBron” is associated with this film, and James’s fans take the opportunity to adopt it as the brand name. You can find the new versions of the Space Jam toy including Lebron James and the rest of the Toon Squad as well as the rest of the Space Jam toy collection at the cool toys shop. Additionally, look out for the arrival of the new Space Jam 2 toys coming soon!

Funko Pop Lebron James

Whether you prefer the slam dunking James from the 2011 “The Decision” announcement or the more recent skinny Lebron, you can find your favorite version of James as a Funko Pop collectible. With a variety of sizes and character options to choose from, there is a Funk Pop Lebron James figurine that is the perfect fit for your collection or gift.

Space Jam Card Games

If your child likes to play card games, you can complete their collection with one of these Space Jam card decks. The decks come in different themes, including basketball, the Swampland Monsters, and a collaboration between the Looney Tunes and the Harlem Globetrotters. They’re great for kids of all ages, and they’re a fun way to pass the time on a car ride or during a rainy day indoors.

Final Words

If your child loves basketball and the Looney Tunes, they’ll love this movie. It’s a great way to introduce them to the sport, and it teaches the importance of teamwork, friendship, and self-belief. While watching it with your child, you can use it as a springboard for discussion, pointing out themes like friendship and perseverance, and talking about how those themes apply to your child’s life. Even though you watched Space Jam as a kid, it’s a different experience now that you’re an adult. It’s a silly, lighthearted movie that will make you laugh and keep you entertained. If you want to share the joy of Space Jam with your own child, these toys are a great place to start.
